*Updated* Best Health magazine hires new editor-in-chief
Beth Thompson
Multi-brand media company Reader’s Digest Magazines Canada has announced the appointment of Beth Thompson as the editor-in-chief of Best Health magazine. Thompson will replace the current EIC, Bonnie Munday on Oct. 16. Munday has been with the organization since 2008 and will remain with Best Health until the completion of the November/December issue. She has not yet announced her future plans.

Thompson will work with Robert Goyette, editor-in-chief and vice president of Reader’s Digest Magazines Canada, overseeing all magazine brands including Reader's Digest, Sélection, Best Health and Our Canada. Together they will explore new ways to refresh the magazine for its Canadian audience.

Thompson was appointed editor-in-chief of Canadian Health & Lifestyle magazine in 2013, and served as beauty editor at More Magazine from 2010-2012. Between 2005-2009 she held the title of editor-in-chief at Glow magazine and before that in 2003, she was the editor-in-chief of Spree. She has also served as an advisor to various publications such as Zeller’s Family Magazine, Today’s Grandparent Magazine and Healthy Woman Magazine.

UPDATE:

After posting this story we received comments stating staff members at Best Health had been let go. Here’s what senior publicist Kelly Hyatt said about the subject during an email correspondence:

"Two other full-time editorial staff members will be leaving Best Health once the November/December issue closes as well. These were two full-time editorial staff members. They do not make up the entire editorial department. Beth is eager to build her team, but the overall plan has yet to be determined."
