NYT surpasses 10 million paid subs

The New York Times reports that it has surpassed 10 million paid subscriptions, three years ahead of its plans to reach that goal by 2025. Its new goal is 15 million subscribers by 2027.

The Times reached that goal with the addition of The Athletic’s, a sports publisher the paper acquired recently. Last quarter, for the first time ever, The Times added 375,000 paid digital subscribers to its non-core news products like games and recipes, surpassing core news for the first time. Core news subscribers totalled 171,000 in the quarter.

Earlier this week, the paper announced it had purchased Wordle.
