Media bill expected to be introduced soon

The federal government is committed to pressing ahead with plans to ensure digital companies pay Canadian media outlets for using their content. Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez told the Canadian Press that he’s currently consulting opposition parties to draft and introduce a bill that is similar to what Australia adopted last year.
Rodriguez pointed out the critical situation of Canada’s news industry, where hundreds of papers and other outlets have closed, with the revenue migrating to digital platforms.
Introducing such legislation was a Liberal promise for its first 100 days in office. That deadline runs out in a few daysPost a Comment
