NMC Local Journalism Initiative funding extended to January 31
 
 
News Media Canada (NMC) will be extending its LJI bridge agreement period by one month until January 31, 2026, to ensure that LJI (Local Journalism Initiative) reporters currently participating in the program remain employed until final decisions for the next round of the program are announced. The current bridge period was scheduled to end on December 31, 2025.

 Publishers are reminded that they must continue to employ their current LJI reporter to be eligible for this bridge funding. Successful applicants for the 2025-2027 period of the program will be announced in mid-January, 2026. LJI staff will be in touch with participating publishers to confirm participation. Questions can be directed to: lji@newsmediacanada.ca.
