Canadian Home Workshop shuts down
Canadian Home Workshop is ceasing operations. Blue Ant Media, parent company of publisher Cottage Life Media, says the final issue will be the Winter 2014 edition.

According to an email from a company spokesperson, "Changing market conditions made it no longer possible to produce a profitable magazine."

The final issue of Canadian Home Workshop will be available on newsstands until March 31, 2014

Blue Ant said most of the magazine's staff will transition to new roles within the company; two full-time employees were let go. The organization is discussing possible new positions for editor-in-chief/brand manager Douglas Thomson, though nothing is official as of yet.

Published six times a year, the do-it-yourself woodworking and renovations title launched in 1977.

Transcontinental Media bought Canadian Home Workshop (along with Outdoor Canada, Canadian Gardening and Canadian Home & Country) from Avid Media in 2004. In 2009, Canadian Home Workshop and Outdoor Canada were purchased by Cottage Life Media (then called Quarto Communications). Blue Ant Media acquired Cottage Life Media late last year.

Current Canadian Home Workshop subscriptions will be transferred to Family Handyman magazine, published by Reader's Digest Association.
