Briefs & Bookmarks: Outdoor Photography, OAC, Boston mag

Outdoor Photography Canada released a digital iPad version. The app is $0.99 and comes with the Spring/Summer 2013 issue. Single issues sell for $4.99 while a one-year subscription is $14.99.

The Ontario Arts Council turned 50 today. Funding arts across the province, it has supported the work of many lit and culture mags over the years including Cinema Scope, The Walrus, Broken Pencil and POV.

Magazines Canada released a new white paper for members, profiling Canadian magazine subscribers. The analysis includes info on housing, family structure, age, education, ethnicity and more.

The May cover for Boston magazine (not a Canadian publication, but we're making an exception), featuring shoes worn at the Boston Marathon where a bomb attack took lives and caused mayhem, hits all the right notes. Visit the mag's website for the story behind the cover.

Monocle's Tyler Brûlé spoke Wednesday in Toronto at a Canadian Journalism Foundation J-Talk event. Check out J-Source's live blog if you missed it.

Also worth a read is the Ryerson Review of Journalism's feature on Don Obe, noted magazine writer, editor and New Journalism junkie. (And RRJ founder.) Get yourself a copy of the mag or read it online.
