Book and magazine fest rebrands as Word Vancouver

The event formerly known as The Word on the Street Vancouver is rebranding this year as simply Word Vancouver.

The yearly celebration of literacy has been organized by the Vancouver Book and Magazine Fair Society since 1995 as part of the national Word on the Street series. Quill & Quire reports the event's new branding distances it from Word on the Street's national organization to reflect the wider scope of its programming.

Word Vancouver notes that other Word on the Street events in cities like Toronto, Saskatoon and Lethbridge are single-day street festivals, whereas the Vancouver installment has grown to five days and spilled over from the Vancouver Public Library to a number of events at numerous venues.

All Word Vancouver sessions, including readings and workshops, are free and will be held Sept. 25 to 29. Visit wordvancouver.ca for more info and full schedule.
