Magazines Canada cancels 2009 School for Professional Publishing

Budget and travel cutbacks at member publishing companies have forced Magazines Canada to cancel its annual School for Professional Publishing, according to a posting on the Canadian Magazines blog. The workshop has been postponed until 2010, faculty have been told.

The program, known affectionately by its many faculty and participants as P2, was in its fifth year. It had grown out of the previous Magazine Publishing Workshop, run for some years by Magazines Canada, itself a successor to the Banff Publishing Workshop, started more than 20 years ago.
