Federal budget extends help for journalism for 3 years
 
 
Tabled November 4, Budget 2025 plans to provide funding to grow Canada’s creative industries and help Canadian talent succeed in an increasingly digital and global marketplace. Initiatives include $38.4 million over three years, starting in 2026-2027, to Canadian Heritage for the Special Measures for Journalism component of the Canada Periodical Fund, which helps small and community news outlets continue producing quality Canadian editorial content.

 An additional $6 million over 3 years, starting in 2026-2027, will go to the Canada Council for the Arts to support professional artists and arts organizations.
