We Communications becomes Actual Media following sale of meat business magazine
Canadian Meat Business is published bimonthly and has a qualified circulation of 5,936.

Toronto-based We Communications Inc. has changed its name to Actual Media Inc., following the sale of Canadian Meat Business magazine to publisher Ray Blumenfeld in July. Actual Media owner and president Todd Latham says the name was changed to avoid confusion with Blumenfeld’s company, which is now called We Communications West.

Latham, a former executive with the Business Information Group, purchased We Communications in March 2005. He set up shop in Toronto, where he launched ReNew Canada and moved operations for the already established Canadian Water Treatment magazine. Canadian Meat Business, on the other hand, continued to be published out of Winnipeg.

“It was hard dealing at arm’s length,” says Blumenfeld, who has been with the magazine for eight years. “We weren’t growing them properly.” Along with the magazine, Blumenfeld also purchased the office where the magazine is run out of, as well as all Winnipeg-based print and graphic design client contracts. Latham retains a small equity stake in We Communications West. A sale price was not disclosed.
