Sandra Cheung has been promoted from associate art director to art director at Transcontinental Media's Outdoor Canada. Cheung takes over for Rob Biron, who is now art director for Up! Magazine, the West Jet in-flight magazine published out of Calgary by RedPoint Media Inc.
At Where Toronto, Linda Luong will serve as acting editor-in-chief for the next year while Anne Gibson is on maternity leave. Managing editor Viviane Kertész, meanwhile, bid the St. Joseph Media-owned magazine farewell after the September issue to go freelance.
Post City Magazines is looking for a new features editor. Sam Toman, who has been in that position for just under two years, is leaving later this month. He's heading overseas to freelance " and to research a book that I would like to write on the heirs of the Russian artist Kazimir Malevich (of which I am one)."
Also hiring in editorial is Suite101.com, the Vancouver-based online publication. Editor-in-chief Joy Gugeler stepped down last month after three years with the company. She is researching and preparing "a proposal for Google and a number of other websites and am applying for online positions that require editorial management and liaison with the print industry."
CSC News, published by the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, spent the summer looking for a new editor; Wyndam Wise won the job. Wise has been involved with film publishing for the last 20 years, having founded several publications, including POV magazine, Take One: Film & Television in Canada and Canadian Screenwriter.
