A couple of changes to report at Edmonton-based Venture Publishing. First, Peter Robertson is the new director of marketing for the company. Robertson has done marketing jobs in a wide range of industries including oil and gas, manufacturing and information technology and has taught at MacEwan, NAIT, Athabasca University and the University of Alberta.
Also at Venture, Unlimted magazine has a new senior editor. Craille Maguire Gillies, formerly of enRoute, will take up her seat in the one-year-old magazine’s office in September. (Thanks to the Alberta Magazine Publishers Association for the tips.)
Financial Post Business magazine has hired Dana Lacey as managing editor. Lacey graduated from the school of journalism at Ryerson University in 2007 and had been working for the Financial Post newspaper. [Correction: Lacey was working at FP on a summer contract as junior editor, not managing editor. We regret the error.]
Lisa Fielding has left her position as copy editor for St. Joseph Media’s Toronto Life and is now copy editor for Canadian Living and Homemakers at Transcontinental Media.
Jennifer Allen has resigned as managing editor of Thomson Reuters-owned business of law magazine, Lexpert. She's taken a national media relations role with a large law firm in Toronto.
Finally, a new executive committee for the board of directors has been elected at the National Magazine Awards Foundation. Patrick Walsh (Outdoor Canada) is president, Joe Chidley (Canadian Business) is vice president, Kim Pittaway is past president, Margaret Albanese (St. Joseph Communications) is treasurer and Lisa Walker (2 Magazine) is secretary.
