Sidney Hillman Foundation to honour Canada’s best
The Sidney Hillman Foundation is now accepting nominations for the 2015 Canadian Hillman Prize—an award that honours investigative reporting that draws attention to social or economic injustice and hopefully leads to change.

Newspapers, magazines and online, as well as film and broadcast (television and radio) and multi-media are all eligible for nominations as long as the piece was published or broadcast in 2014. Global topics are welcomed, however the content must have been published in Canada and easily available to Canadians.

This year’s judges will be Tony Burman, previously the chief news editor of CBC and current News and Research Chair in News Media and Technology at Ryerson’s School of Journalism; Jim Stanford, Unifor economist and columnist for the Globe and Mail and CBC Television and Radio; and Bonnie Brown, television and documentary producer and radio news producer at CBC for 15 years.

There is no submission fee, a cover letter and four copies of material are required and the deadline is January 9, 2015. The winner will be announced in March and will be awarded $5,000 and a certificate at a reception held in Toronto on March 12, 2015. They will also travel to New York City for the American ceremony on May 5.

Submissions/Nominations should be forwarded to:
