Sean Rice becomes sole owner of HOSS magazine
Design, decor and renovation magazine HOSS, is now under the sole ownership of publisher Sean Rice.

“Now that Sean has taken over the reins completely, he is taking on a more active role in editorial and meeting with the editorial team regularly,” Peter Ashworth, president of Ashworth Associates said. “There are plans to widen the scope of the magazine to include more lifestyle articles and decrease the focus on construction and renovation.”

Rice worked with his team to rebrand the publication and has created a new logo that offers more focus and an explanation of what HOSS stands for: HomeOwner’s Simple Solutions.

According to HOSS, 40% of Canadians are expected to renovate or repair their homes next year and they aim to tap into that niche market.

HOSS provides readers with carefully researched information, inspiring photography and great ideas,” Rice said. “There has been a steady increase in readership since its debut on newsstands a year ago. HOSS empowers and motivates homeowners to realize their own unique vision for their homes."

HOSS is published six times a year and contains step-by-step instructions, design inspiration, talks trends, technology and materials and techniques for every season. The Winter 2014/15 issue —Rice’s debut as sole owner— will feature The Property Brothers. It reaches over 175,000 people with a controlled circulation on newsstands in Canada and the USA and is available on digital platforms including Windows, Apple and android systems as well as computers.
