Cottage to rebrand as Cottage Life West

Cottage Life Media is renaming Cottage as Cottage Life West with the March 2014 issue. The Toronto-based publisher purchased Cottage in 2012 as part of a national growth plan.

In a company release, editor Peter Robson said, "readers can expect the same strong western Canadian focus, but even more great content thanks to the added expertise and resources Cottage Life Media brings to the table."

The bi-monthly publication has published for 22 years in British Columbia, with content on sustainable living, cabin building, DIY projects, and Western Canada travel destinations.

In addition to the title's makeover, Cottage Life Media will premiere the Edmonton Cottage Life & Cabin show, held April 25-27 at the Edmonton Expo Centre. The new event joins the company's portfolio of Cottage Life-branded Ontario shows, the Spring Cottage Life Show and the Fall Cottage Life Show.

"More than 365,000 people in British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan own a vacation property in Canada," said Al Zikovitz, president of Cottage Life Media. "Our objective is to be the leading media brand offering the best in local content for readers and show attendees, along with fully-integrated media solutions for advertisers and exhibitors."

This is the latest development for the brand since its acquisition by Blue Ant Media in 2012; in September, Cottage Life expanded its national presence with a speciality TV channel.
