Scott, Waterhouse-Hayward chosen for this years top achievement awards
The recipients of two of the industry’s most coveted awards have been announced. D.B. Scott has been named the winner of this year’s Outstanding Achievement Award by the National Magazine Awards Foundation. And Alex Waterhouse-Hayward will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Western Magazine Awards Foundation.

Scott’s career has spanned four decades. Currently the president of consultancy Impresa Communications Ltd. and author of the Canadian Magazines blog, Scott’s early career was spent on the editorial side at the Toronto Star, Ontario Living magazine and Quest magazine. He worked as editorial director at Comac Communications Ltd., a large publisher of controlled-circulation consumer magazines at the time, and held the same role at Saturday Night Publishing Services, a division established to support Saturday Night. More recently he’s penned many studies on the magazine industry and taught at Ryerson’s magazine publishing night-school program. Scott will receive his award at the NMA event June 10 in Toronto.

Waterhouse-Hayward has been a contributor to the western magazine scene for decades as a photographer, writer and artist. He will be given his award June 17 at the Western Magazine Awards gala in Vancouver.
