Adbusters cover wrapped on U.S. newsstands
The March/April issue of Adbusters is being wrapped in solid blue plastic on U.S. newsstands, a practice normally reserved for magazines with nudity on the cover.

The Adbusters cover, for the ‘Post Normal’ issue, features a photograph by Nicolas Asfouri showing a devotee of the Chinese Bank Neow Shrine with his cheeks pierced by toy guns in the southern Thailand town of Phuket.

Magazine cofounder and editor in chief Kalle Lasn said the team at Adbusters initially felt using the image would be unnecessarily graphic, but changed their minds because of the feeling it created. “We think the image captures a feeling of post normality that a lot of us are feeling now with our worlds falling apart,” he said. “Strange that at a time when all kinds of pornographic images are floating around this issue is covered up.”

Adbusters is published six times per year by the Adbusters Media Foundation. The March/April issue has 128 pages and is available for $8.95.

What do you think? Should the issue be cover wrapped?
