Editorial Intern, Content & Audience Development
Part-time Internship Position

The Canadian Franchise Association (CFA) is a national business association serving the needs of the franchise community. Our purpose is to help everyday Canadians realize the dream of building their own business through the power and opportunity of franchising. We achieve this by amplifying the power and opportunity of franchising through advocating on issues that impact franchising; connecting people with opportunities; and delivering best-in-class learning opportunities that make franchising stronger.

We are seeking a new Editorial Intern to join our Content & Audience Development team and help deliver world-class digital content to drive the success of our organization!
Our ideal candidate has a knack for writing and editing, and can work with content across platforms, including podcasts and video. The Editorial Intern will create content for Franchise Canada magazine and Franchise Canada Online to help educate and inspire our audience of prospective and existing franchisees, entrepreneurs, business owners, and more. You will work with the Content & Audience Development team to produce and repurpose content that is informative and fun in a professional editorial environment.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordinating interviews with CFA members to write articles and features for Franchise Canada magazine and Franchise Canada Online
• Proofreading magazine and annual directory before publishing
• Researching and writing evergreen articles and other features as assigned
• Audio editing (Audacity) for Franchise Canada Chats podcast
• Repurposing articles from Franchise Canada magazine into short scripts for Franchise Canada TV learning videos
• Video editing (Powtoon, Wave, Canva) for animated learning videos, as well as editing live Zoom footage for the Franchise Canada Chats podcast
• Participate in weekly Content meetings to coordinate with team members
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualification Requirements:
• College or undergraduate student in journalism, English, communications, or related field
• Audio and video editing experience with programs including Audacity, Adobe Premiere
• Strong communicator with excellent verbal and written skills
• Detail-oriented, with strong copyediting and proofreading skills
• Strong interviewing skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, WordPress, Zoom, YouTube
• Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be flexible to change, and work to tight deadlines
• Ability to quickly learn new digital programs
• Reliability, accuracy, and thoroughness
• Self-reliance, initiative, and sound judgment
• Superior customer service skills while coordinating with CFA members

This a part-time volunteer internship position.
The position requires regular daily work hours but is flexible with a student’s schedule.
This is a remote work position.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
