For those of us stuck in cubicleland, here's a suggestion from the Style North blog on how to improve those horrible fluorescent lights above our desks: Using a highlighter, colour the acrylic cover pink to create a rosy glow. If you're not one for altering company property, I think you could also achieve the same effect by tacking up a pink gel or tissue paper over the cover.

True, tissue and lights could be a potential fire hazard, which I did consider. Perhaps I should have been more specific in my suggestion. The tissue should be secured loosely outside of the plastic cover so there is air between the paper and cover. This way the tissue is not in contact with the bulb. And if your light does get too hot, obviously this isn't a viable option. I just figured people would be smart enough to figure out how to do this safely. But I guess there's a reason why some products include ridiculous common-sense safety warnings. I'll be sure to be more explicit in the future.

We will be seeing things through rose coloured glasses for sure now.

Tissue paper over lights? Even fluorescent ones give off some heat – a fire in the office likely equals you're fired!
