How much do top-level editors in the States make?
The results of Folio:'s 2008 editorial salary survey have been revealed. Beyond finding out how much top US editors make, the survey found out that, no surprise, editors work too hard: 72% of respondents have taken on duties beyond their job descriptions, mostly from online. Half of those say they've been poorly compensated for it. Regardless, we love our work: only 10% are not satisfied with their jobs.

I am absolutely appalled that men are still making a significant amount more than women. It's absolutely ridiculous and totally uncalled for. I realize this is an average, so men may be at mags that pay more, but that's not always the case and it's sad that this pay difference is still happening.
