We Are Hockey

The March 10th, 2014 issue of Sportsnet looks like a winner.

Rule #32: Timing Matters

This cover will certainly take full advantage of the lingering high we experienced from the Olympics. For my money, the women’s hockey team game was a bigger thrill.

Idea: Why not have half the copies featuring the women on the front cover, with the guys on the back cover… and the other half with the guys on the front, with the gals on back?

Regardless, a great cover that is sure to sell!

I had the same thought as Scott: make room for the heroic women's team. A national sports magazine should have its eye on the long-term future of the sport, not just short-term retail sales. I think the gesture would have been great for the brand!

While I like your idea about split covers, let's be honest and admit that Sidney Crosby will sell waaaaay more than the womens team. Cover design isn't about fairness, its about sales.
