The Coast Suspension Because of Pandemic
 
Halifax's alternative weekly newspaper "The Coast"is halting its print publication for now  because of the COVID-19. In a letter on  the Coast's website titled "Pause the presses," publisher Christine Oreskovich and editor Kyle Shaw said COVID-19 "has turned things upside down for our readers, our staff, our city, our world." — a base that tilts towards bars, restaurants and events — has been shut down," the letter said.
These shutdowns  affect other sources of revenue for the Coast,  like Halifax Burger Week, which has been postponed until June 2020. Nearly 20 staff members were laid off. A "bare-bones" editorial staff will remain reporting for the Coast online.
