Liberal Party of Canada president Doug Fergunson has replied to the questions from Magazines Canada sent out last week regarding issues related to mailing costs/subsidies and government funding for magazines.
The Liberal party says it will continue to pay out $16 million annually in support of the Canada Magazine Fund and "would work to ensure that Canada Post maintains its contribution to the PAP (Publications Assistance Program)." The Liberals, however, don't seem particularly keen on introducing competition for magazine postal delivery, with Ferguson noting, "we oppose any policy change that may lead to the privatization of Canada Post." Here are the answers in full (PDF).
